Introduction

The Omnicane Awards is an annual inter-college project competition organised by Omnicane Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource. With 2025 being declared the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology by the United Nations, we are proud to be part of this global movement. This year, the theme is centred around Mauritius facing unique challenges linked to limited arable land, vulnerability to climate change and food security as a SIDS, and on how can innovative solutions in quantum science and technology in the field of data analysis, crop improvement and sustainable resource management support our island in enhancing agricultural productivity while promoting sustainability and resilience.
